We identify and rectify all manner of defects in cavity wall ties and other masonry restraint systems.

From the outset, we aim to provide our clients with a complete service, which is always tailored to fit the individual needs of each project.

When we are first contacted by a client, our first step is to quickly establish the extent and urgency of the work that is required. Thereafter, we will work closely with the client to develop a bespoke action plan by combining any number of the following activities;

  • Initial Non-Intrusive Site Survey.
  • Detailed Endoscope Inspection.
  • Qualified Structural Engineer Review and Recommendations.
  • Specific Warranted Remedial Solutions. Including all labour, plant and materials to undertake a full range of work, from Remedial Wall Tie Installation to Complete Take-down/Rebuilds.
  • Products by Reputable Manufacturers.

Poor design detailing, mismanagement of the works, or plain bad workmanship, can lead to insufficient restraint and dangerous instability of masonry walls. This can result in cracking, loose masonry or even complete collapse

Below, we see a typical example of a poorly built cavity wall where two skins of blockwork have not been tied together with conventional wall ties during initial construction. Adjacent, is an image of the same area following Tie Solutions corrective works whereby 10mm Helifix Retro Ties were installed at 225x450mm centres to properly restrain each skin and so comply with the structural engineer’s original requirements.

This problem was identified through a Tie Solutions Detailed Endoscope Survey, and occurred in a building that was 12 years old, that was showing facework cracks. If this issue was not caught and corrected, there was a very high chance of full or partial wall collapse.
